From left to right: Calima, Dragon Tongue, Golden Wax...all bush beans. I like all three varieties. They are all delicious. However, I am reminded this year why I usually grow pole beans. Bush beans always flop over in my garden, making it look a mess. They are also a lot harder to harvest. Pole beans are definitely my choice. #calimabushbeans#dragontonguebeans#goldenwaxbeans#bushbeans#urbangardening
Head down bum up today! Amongst all these weeds are rows of carrots, beetroot, bush beans and snow peas. This is at my brothers place where he grows and sells to local restaurants, all spray free of course, so lots of manual labour, ahhh!
Nitrogen Nodes - this Bush Bean plant has been a great experiment. I have grown it for a whole year very successfully. It simply went dormant during winter. It became like a mini tree in the ground and successfully continued to produce very tasty fruits even with age. ➡️ scroll to see its trunk ➡️ usually I leave all legumes roots in the ground but my little scissors ✂️ I was hold during a patch tidy up were not going to do the job. So it’s in the compost instead.
Tonight's dinner: Meatless Monday, Minestrone soup with garlic bread! This is literally my 5 year old daughter's most requested meal! She calls it the "soup with spinach and carrots". I just can't say no to her since this soup is so loaded with veggies! Total cost is $4.75, and we'll be having this for 2 nights!

Butternut Pumpkins & Corn - the tall corn patch is just at the growing cob stage with lots of Bush Beans at their base. The pumpkins are wending their way into the corn patch too. Behind the pumpkins is another patch of younger corn so as to create a regular cropping period over a longer time. In a couple of weeks I will plant Bush Beans in their patch too. These three are known as the 3 sisters.
The Bush Beans were growing on the inside of the climbing snow pea frame. The frame has been removed leaving lots of bushes of beans underneath. The great thing is that as they grew in a shaded place they grew tall helping their beans become nice and long.
