I had a drawing teacher at Parsons, Stewart Shedletsky, who told us he used to, when he was young, refer to some of the old masters work as "brown paintings", and not what he prefered to look at back then as a young artist in the sixties. So, I set out to make a brown painting, which was not an easy or fun sounding prospect, but I was determined to make a brown painting appealing. Paired with some nice harvest colors, shades and tones, I think it worked out lovely. What do you think? Who'd of thought, brown?
