This #EarthCrunchy salad is made from julienned locally grown purple kohlrabi, green pears, doused in Meyer lemon juice, topped with fresh mint from our garden and giant watercress. We enjoyed this perfect crunchy salad on a balmy afternoon with some organic white wine (made by a student of mine in Spain) and a Leonard Cohen playlist, after a fun morning sourcing all the #inseason ingredients at the #burleighfarmersmarket. A perfect #earthday2017 🌱💛🌏
Our tip for a sustainable home, COMPOST. We recently discovered a council-run compost initiative on our block and have bought a large garbage pail with a lockable lid and handle, so we can walk the food scraps up to the community compost bin and keep the smell, flies and ants away when it's in the kitchen. Since making this small, simple change we have reduced our regular garbage from one bag a day to one every 5-7 days! Ask your council if they have something similar and if not - Start one yourself👊🌱Even in big, busy cities like Barcelona we found a compost space, so living in an urban area/ apartment is no excuse ☝🏼Plus you don't have to take the trash out as often, a winwin for lazy peeps like us 😋
