Yesterday I saw a pregnant lady looking so sad and miserable in the cold weather and it got me thinking because I actually envied her! I was heavily preggers and overdue in last years freak heatwave and my god was it AWFUL. I practically walked round the flat naked with ice cubes strapped to my elephant feet. I was huge, sweaty, uncomfortable and miserable. Now don't get me wrong I know it's unsafe out there in the frost, but would you rather be heavily pregnant in the middle of a heatwave or in the cold conditions? ❄️❤️🔥

20 second hug
So often, rushing from one thing to another - how often do we allow ourselves the time to really soak in a good long embrace? To hold another, or really allow ourselves to be held? A 20 second hug will lower your cortisol (stress hormone) levels, and raise your oxytocin. It can have a positive effect on your blood pressure and heart rate. And… it just feels really good. Soak it up Mama. Embrace your loved ones, breathe in your children, gift yourself a long heart-to-heart hug.

6 second kiss
The strain on our relationships during the baby and young children phase of family life is real. I love following The Gottman Institute’s “Marriage Minute”. With a background in research and clinical psychology, they provide a research based approach to improving relationships. They suggest a simple daily ritual like a 6 second kiss is powerful way to start rekindling emotional and physical connection.

A ritual to connect to yourself and your belly baby
So many Mamas come to our Pregnant Mama Sacred Circle, seeking a way to connect in and nurture their relationship with their growing baby. From around 15 weeks your baby can start to hear sounds from the outside world. Choose a song to be your song. Play the song and really feel it as you caress your belly, massage it with some fractionated coconut oil with a drop of an essential oil*, or simply hug and gently rock yourself and your baby. Turn this into a beautiful nurturing, connecting ritual for you both.

Sooooo I’ve seen a lot of #ThankYouMidwife posts recently and felt I had to join in as the Midwife who was with me and my husband when I had Teddy was the most AMAZING lady ever! Not only did she act like my personal cheer leader, she was hugely funny, hugely positive and made sure I didn’t have a clue about any of the complications that were going on that could’ve meant I went from calm and collected to super stressed which made my labour painful but wonderful at the same time! So even with being induced, being strapped to machines when Teddy went into distress when my waters broke and my heart rate going through the roof, I felt safe and knew my little boy was safe too thanks to the lovely Helen! She even made sure I didn’t know I had a major bleed after delivery by ensuring Teddy was in my arms wearing an amazingly bright hat as soon as he’d been checked over! I love my Boys so much (Teddy, Hubby and PugChops) and I have Helen to thank for helping make Teddy’s arrival so beautiful even if it was the total opposite to my birth plan! 🤰🏼👶🏼🤱🏼

Women’s circles hold such potent soul medicine. And, much like after any kind of energetic healing, it’s so important to be gentle and kind to oneself. Whatever is ready to be shifted will surface, those feelings and thoughts that have been bubbling below make their way up, ready to be transformed and transmuted w love. Our job is merely to feel and acknowledge it, to open and surrender and let it flow *through*. Callistemon flowers at our circle offered support through times of transition. Drink plenty of water, have an epsom salt/ magnesium bath, add in some crystals if you have them. Treat and talk to yourself gently and kindly 💕

:: A Meditation for Pregnant Mamas ::
Throughout the ages, in many cultures, pregnant women have been recognised as being sacred. During pregnancy, womens intuition is heightened, as the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. Yet this time is also a time of great overwhelm and challenges. No rite of passage is meant to be easy. It’s a time of growth and expansion, working through and releasing fears, moving steadily towards the unknown. Without true connection - with others and yourself - you can easily feel isolated and alone. Take the time to sit and be still and connect with that higher wisdom and knowing love within you. It IS within you.

Close your eyes, place your hands over your heart, and breathe in three deep breaths into your heart space. See a great big ball of light shining above you. You feel the warmth of its glow radiating upon you. Feel a single ray beam down and touch the top of your head. It enters and slowly starts melting down your body. It feels warm and delicious. As it works its way down your body, your muscles release and deeply relax. Feel it replenishing your heart. You feel loved. You are love. As you relax, you release any anxiety you have been carrying in your body. Keeping one hand on your heart, move your other hand down to your womb, connecting with your baby. You let a soft smile comes to your face. As it does, you see your baby relax and smile back from your womb. As you breathe out you send love to your baby. As you breathe in, your baby sends love to you and you receive. As you continue doing this, feel your head, scalp and forehead relaxing and releasing. Feel the bond between you and your baby that cannot be broken, feel the love and innate wisdom within your heart. Know you can TRUST yourself Mama.
