@mr_alwin shares his #meandmymotorcycle story
"I've heard about people falling in love at first sight but my love affair with Enfield started when i heard its thump for the first time.Waking up every morning to that loud thunderous thump made my love for her stronger. But time played villains role & I had to breakup with it. It was back in 1998 when my father had to let go of it to get another bike.Ever since then i grew up with the sweet memories of me gripping the handle bars tight, laying flat on that gold pinstriped tank while my father showed me around town.
As I grew up those memories faded but in 2010 it all came back. I fell in love with it all over again. The design. The pinstripes. I wanted one for myself so bad but luck was not on my side. So the wait started.Lots of dreaming and staring at display bikes at the showroom later i got the opportunity to ride a classic 350 for the first time when i joined college.It was a friend's ride & that first ride was beyond explainable for me. I came back with a grin so wide & a heart filled with the love for that motorcycle.
3 years passed by & it was time to finish my college. That's when all my prayers were answered and my dream came true. I got to buy a Royal Enfield for myself. I was so hyped that i couldn't choose which model to buy. But all these years' wait helped me pick the right one. It had to be a machismo 500.I loved that bike for its standout design and as usual the Royal enfield reliability. I managed to track one in Bangalore and got it off a guy who had a bunch of other Enfields
Finally the time came when i got to bring it home, the machismo 500.Initially the first few days i struggled with it but as days went by we became buddies. A rare one on the streets and a close one to my heart. I named it "आईना" which means mirror.
I chose that name not just because it matches the bikes appearance but has got a character on its own. It reflects that character & you can feel it when you ride.
Its not been an easy journey so far. For me riding my bike is like therapy & it definitely helped me get through some of the tough times.We had our share of troubles but that's the fun part of owning "आईना".
