[Happiness is found in the outtakes] We all make mistakes- be it at work, in a relationship, in traffic and even in our diets [diet = healthy food, not restriction]. I'm going to let you in on a secret I'm finally coming to accept about my life lately: it's not perfect [gasp!] Yep, you heard that right. I show you what I want to show you on social media because you don't need to hear me complain about certain stumbling blocks, struggling to find confidence and truly loving myself for me, but those are all very real things I deal with in a daily basis. That said, I do believe in keeping it as real as I can, within reason.
I remember the first year-end meeting I had with my boss in news. She said I had absolutely killed it in the few short months I had been with the company, but wanted one thing from me: confidence. You heard that right. My boss didn't want me to work harder or longer hours, she just wanted me to love myself and embrace who I am. To this day, I can hear her words every time I call myself "lazy" or "not successful enough." Not "thin enough" or not "ripped enough." Not "pretty enough" or simply not "enough." Believe it or not, I work SO incredibly hard to love myself wholeheartedly, but I'm just not there yet. And that's okay. I need to accept true self love doesn't happen overnight, and my progress cannot be compared to others.
Here's to my ongoing #transformationtuesday ❤️I hope your [self] love story has more immediate results, but if it doesn't, just remember your girl here has been working on it for over a year now and she's still not there...it's a marathon, ladies, not a sprint 😘
P.S.- changed my Insta handle to my real name, just felt more authentic🙏🏻Nice to meet ya! 📸: @celenakinsey
