Where it all started and in the background where it all ended yesterday after my #recoverycycle this morning (coach says all the pros do it 😜)
My first top 100 finish, in a field of 97 starters.
Nearly did not start the race as my wet suit zipper broke, and the awesome volunteers helped me McGyver it with less than 5mins to start. This completely through my mental preparation out the window and ended up swimming mid way between the course and the shore thus swimming an extra 500m. (PB for pace though)
I knew the cycle would be tough, but was never going to be prepared for that monster, I would dare to say it was nearly as tough as #imsa #buffalocity I now know how leaders of a race feels being escorted for the last 22kms and getting cheered on by the awesome #croatianpolice (I think it was more of a push on than a cheer on😉)
At the start of the run I had 2:30 to make the bus which was leaving at 4:30.
It does not help that from transition it is a 2km climb especially after the cycle.
Beautiful but lonely run, luckily did not have to show my passport at the #croatia #slovenia border, but a friendly customs officer did ask me where I was from jogging a little beside me, as I think he knew I was struggling. I then got an escort through a very busy #portoroz, Gratefully the awesome #oceanlavaparenzana team held the bus for 7mins for me.
I received the finisher medal and t-shirt, extremely grateful as I really had to dig deep to finish and not give up which I could have easily done throughout any of the 3 legs.
