This may ruffle some feathers (pun totally intended 😆🦃) but I’m gonna post it anyway.
Is anyone else sick of seeing posts touting ways to “avoid the Thanksgiving weight gain” or “earn your calories” today?? 🙄
Even as a health and fitness coach, I am! And I think it’s necessary to address this.
I’ll admit, I posted a goofy post-workout pic this morning talking about how I did it so I could have a mimosa by 12pm (which, I totally did 🤪🥂), but by no means am I trying to insinuate or endorse the mindset of “exercising to earn food”. ✋🏼 That kind of mindset will screw ya up. No joke. I know because I lived with it for so long. 🙈
I worked out today because it makes me happy and it’s now my lifestyle. And so is drinking daytime mimosas on holidays 🤷🏼♀️ Sweating on or around a holiday doesn’t always have to be a punishment or repentance.
Rather than working out to “earn food” or “burn it off” tomorrow, why not exercise as a way of showing gratitude for our health and the ability to sweat, or a way to keep ourselves around longer (& sane 😂) for more Thanksgiving celebrations with those we love? 🤜🏼♥️🤛🏼 And sure, there are ways to make certain traditional recipes way healthier and I definitely support making good choices but ONE day of indulgence isn’t gonna kill ya.
It’s letting yourself stay in that pattern day after day that will. #Truth
So today, let’s stop worrying about the carbs, the bloat or the calories in the midday mimosas, and instead take a second to be thankful for the fact that we have able, working bodies and are even in a position to worry about overeating when so many don’t even know where their next meal is coming from. ✌🏼💕 And PS, i made these donuts 🍩 😍 how pretty are they!?
