This was the first Barolo I ever sold as a sales rep (long ago) and have been forever hooked.
Deep dense and brooding - inky dark red and black fruits, musk, menthol, super clean. 13.5%. Brunate has always been about power- this is firm but has that silky nuance of Roberto's hand and a density of fruit that comes from very low yields (500gms per vine). 🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹🔹
2009 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo - Barolo, Italy 🇮🇹 (93/100- Magnum). 93/100 - Dark red berries, dried herbs, rosehip, musk, menthol, liquorice, earth. Elegance, power, a touch angular (vintage or closed down?). Irrespective the wines of Bartolo Mascarello are beautiful at any time - even better in magnum.
