As life starts to settle and I am able to breathe a little more, it is painful to look at the images of two weeks ago when Super hurricane Irma hit a place we called "Paradise" and more importantly, "home". I am truly heartbroken at the utter devastation this storm caused the British Virgin Islands. Not just this storm but then we had to buckle down for Jose, and then experience another Category 5 storm, Maria.
The island's infrastructure has been destroyed. Houses, building and true landmarks all gone overnight. Most, if not all, of our friends have been evacuated to safety. The British Virgin Islands is a different place now.
Whilst the scenes in the 48 hours after the storm were disappointing with wide spread looting in town, the spirit of everyone since and immense generosity has been amazing. No matter whether people have houses, cars or food, I have been offered food and water from lots of people. Humanitarianism is winning.
I am and will be a part of the rebuilding of this amazing country. My life and my future is the BVI
