Lest we forget...He was only just a boy when he left his home in #Newfoundland, joined the British Royal Navy and travelled to distant shores. During his 6 years overseas he witnessed unspeakable atrocities and suffered unimaginable trauma. The boy returned a man, his body was whole, but the man he was truly meant to be was lost in battle. He lived a good life, had a family that loved him but often struggled to understand him.  Dear Dad, another year come and gone and everyday I gain new insight and appreciation for the sacrifices you made and the life you led. I am overwhelmingly proud ❤ #remembranceday #lestweforget #britishroyalnavy #ww2 #ww2vet #royalnavy

This is a solid silver ww1 Tommy helmet. This is up for raffle being organised by my friend @themansjw at Big Sexy Vapes in Fraserburgh. £2 an entry with ALL money to be donated to Erskines. Erskine is a facility in Erskine, Scotland, that provides long-term medical care for veterans of the British Armed Forces. Only one of these exists and is a totally unique item to commemorate the centenary of the armistice in 1918. I can't link it but please search for BSV on facebook (the logo is a beard) and donate to enter. Thank you! It's a fantastic cause which I am proud to support. I will pay for recorded shipping anywhere in the world.

This is a Seamaster 300 Royal Navy issued to a diver assigned to the HMS Reclaim, the first deep diving and submarine rescue vessel of the RN. The Reclaim was commissioned in 1948 and decommissioned in 1982, at the time the oldest vessel in service. The ding on the bezel at the 52 minute mark was reportedly sustained during a oil drill fire rescue, as the diver was cutting the rig loose. I’m fortunate to have various provenance documents, including the dive log from the former owner of this watch, and cherish its rich history. Meanwhile, it’s now on active desk diving duty. #milwatch #militarywatch #horology #watches #watchcollector #watchesofinstagram #vintagewatch #britishmilitary #broadarrow #omegawatches #omegasm300 #omegaseamaster300 #britishroyalnavy #sm300rn #bigtriangle #sm300bigtriangle

Shore party of his Majesty’s schooner ‘Carleton’ commanded by Lieutenant Blackett of the British Royal Navy. The vessel was part of the fleet of ships on Lake Champlain in 1781; part of the Provincial Navy assembled by the Province of Quebec. Pictured are soldiers of the 29th Regiment of Foot acting as marines about the vessels, filling out the crews. They would be serving alongside British Royal Navy Sailors.
For historien du skapte.

Today, after a number of years, I finished the twenty first and final book of the Aubrey/Maturin series by Patrick O’Brian. It was an amazing journey filled with highs and lows and I’m a little sad it has finally come to an end. O’Brian was a masterful writer, the relationship between his two main characters was so enjoyable to experience. If you have any interest in the British Royal Navy in the time of Napoleon or are looking for an epic story than this series is for you! If you’re not interested in spending the next few years on one series at least give the first book a chance, it’s called Master and Commander and was made into a movie some years ago staring Russell Crow. The cover illustrations by Geoff Hunt are beautiful and truly inspirational! Now I need to find a good Age of Sail RPG! #patrickobrian #aubreymaturin #epicseries #masterandcommander #hmssurprise #jackaubrey #stephenmaturin #ageofsail #britishroyalnavy #geoffhunt
