These pictures were taken inside a pedestrianised roundabout called “The Bearpit”. Many homeless people seek shelter and socialise in this area due to the underpasses, and public toilets, but the council have just closed all of the toilets as an effort to try and disperse these people. I think this is SO inhumane. Firstly #bristolcitycouncil , you can’t just sweep a problem under the carpet and expect it to go away (in my experience, that’s never done me any favours), secondly, you need to educate the people in your city to understand the reasons why people suffer with addiction, and why they get to the positions they’re in in the first place, societal fear harbouring needs to stop, homeless people are human beings, you aren’t afraid to walk past hordes of them of a daily basis, so why turn your nose up, or cross the street from those less fortunate than you?? And last but not least, utilise the care systems that are in place, there’s a whole network of them, and a whole string of voices complaining how they aren’t getting the care and support they need! My local MP, who I write to quite frequently, has expressed her heartache at not being allowed funds to help... it’s always about money... yet wealthy developers are allowed to come into the city and build tiny bridges across tiny bits of water to link a fancy apartment block with the park, and spend £2.7 MILLION... on a fucking pointless bridge!! Priorities are so flawed, and you are allowing the poverty divide to strengthen.😔💔‼️ (shot on my 1960’s adox with 2006 expired film)🎞
