One of the oldest notebooks in the Johan Hinrich Hasselmann-archive, from the period 1810-1820, with a handmade and recycled book cover. The thick paper used as book cover was originally a woodcut illustration, probably from an old letter or document. The notebook was an accounts book for the merchant Ole Brinch (1750-1823), who probably had dealings with the Hasselmann merchant firm. Brinch bought the Tveiterås farm in Bergen in 1800, and there's even a street named after him in Bergen, in the aptly named district of Paradis ( Paradise).
