The trip to Chamonix was full of my personal mountain records. Mont Blanc was the highest peak I’ve ever seen (4810) and Aiguille du Midi was the highest point on Earth I’ve ever been (3842). This is not the highest point in the Alps one can reach with a ski lift. In Matterhorn glacier paradise it is possible to ski from 3899 m but the only time I was there lazy Swiss didn’t open that area at all and I had to stay at Plateau Rosa (3480). The difference between these two peaks is less than 400 meters but it’s really notable. At Plateau Rosa you can breathe and live normally, at Aiguille du Midi I felt altitude sickness for the first time. You feel lack of oxygen and every physical activity cause tiredness and panting but the view makes you forget about it.
I also had another kind of record. On one of the days I skied only 20 kilometers in total and it’s my shortest day track ever. But actually skiing (hard to believe I say it) was secondary thing there. The main thing was unbelievable magic of very high mountains. And that’s why I do skiing at all.#alps #alpes #alpi #alpit #alpen #альпы #горы #mountains #france #savoie #montblanc #montebianco #chamonixmontblanc #chamonix #aiguilledumidi #brevent #flegere #skiing #alpineskiing #alpensucht #selfie #горныелыжи #франция
