F E E L I N G S. Do they all need to be named? Can they just be here, as they are, for once? Can that be enough?
It was only when I started doing breathwork that I became aware of the deep river of personal / familial / ancestral / universal sadness that coursed below all things in my experience of life. Underneath the genuine gratitude, the sometimes-forced positive thinking, the fake-it-til-you-make-it manifestation rituals and journaling, the "you should know better, you're really lucky, why aren't you enjoying your life more?" shame-y perfectionist self-talk patterns. .
There is sadness; it just is. It's mine and not mine, yours and not yours, and it's our job as fully engaged people, trying to feel better, to work with it and free it from the unconscious background. Something truly magical happens when we shine a light on sadness : it dissolves. A little bit, enough for today. The mute button is turned off, and the colors and sounds and experiences BRIGHTEN. And, WOW, there it is : J O Y 🌞 Lightness. Vibrancy. Empathy and connection 💞. Understanding. Movement. A little bit more freedom!✨
🌬Hope to see you tomorrow (Tues) night for a breathwork group where we will make space for more fun, joy, and freedom! 7/25 7-8:30pm / Gowanus / $30. Advance registration is required...you can do so via the link in my profile 🙏
