This CHILD, fast outgrowing her babyhood, expressive of her autonomy with a big sense of humour and all of the chats. Life is so busy with new words coming all the time, a house to be unpacked and every potential for risk unearthed. 18 months is such fun but exhausting too. She's currently alternating between chilling out breastfeeding and scrabbling for my invisible third breast, which is apparently somewhere by my armpit. I'll blink and she won't be so little anymore.

Morning nursies while Daddy is out cycling. Sailor just said my milky boobies are "soft and warm and cuddly and beautiful" and the milk "tastes like icecreams" .... #breasfeeding #breastfeedingtoddler #normalisebreastfeeding #mumlife #breastfeedersinaustralia

Does your toddler also pretend to be a small baby when you have a newborn on your hands? 馃槀 Adeline is so funny and smart! She sometimes says baby and points at herself for attention or boobies 馃槉 yes, we still breastfeed at 2 and 2 馃檶

After a conversation yesterday with @chalamc about the lasting impact and benefits of breastfeeding, I thought it would be useful to post this. During the tough early weeks just being reminded that through the pain and the doubt that comes as standard, it IS worth it and it WILL get easier.
For the first fortnight after my son was born I remember curling my toes in pain everytime he latched and of course I was googling IS THIS NORMAL?! And one of the things I remember reading was that breastfeeding shouldn't hurt 馃 Well that's only half true.
In the beginning it is highly likely that breastfeeding WILL hurt. That's what comes of having a hungry mouth attached to one of the most sensitive parts of your body relentlessly for the best part of 24 hours every day for 2 weeks (and the rest!) I remember when he finally came off the boob, I'd gingerly put some nipple cream for that sweet cool relief... just for him to immediately cry to go back on 馃槶馃槶馃槶馃槶
It will get better! Bear with your body, you're doing an amazing thing for your baby.

If you are experiencing severe pain or bleeding nipples or anything that concerns you please get in touch with a lactation consultant so they can help you. They are more knowledgeable about breastfeeding than most health visitors and GPs 鉂

In the meantime if you want to speak to a mum who knows about breastfeeding call The National Breastfeeding Helpline on 0300 100 0212. Open 9.30am-9.30pm 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

I鈥檝e officially weaned my 15.5 month old daughter. What a bittersweet moment. It鈥檒l be interesting to see how my body reacts. Macro counting will likely become more important than ever. I鈥檓 15 lbs lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight mainly from eating a dairy free diet for 7 months and strictly counting macros for 12 weeks. Since December, I haven鈥檛 done either and am up 4 lbs since holidays. Still going to gym 3x/week. No biggie though, I鈥檒l get back on track with the nutrition part soon. #breastisbest #breastfeedingtoddler

SLEEP! For the past 20 months I have been craving this. And while I was on retreat without my phone or computer (but with Toddler) I got a taste of the good stuff. Our evening activity was over by 8pm so Banjo crashed around 8.30pm and I was awake for probably another hour at most reading my book before drifting off into a deep sleep until around 8am. (Before you get too envious you should know I co- sleep and I'm still breast feeding so there were a few nibbles through the night but I have learnt to sleep through them). With the absence of screens (and late night work) I feel like a new woman and after a taste of what life is like with sleep, I am going to do my best to switch off my screens an hour before sleep and to go to bed by 10pm (currently I'm burning the candle working until at least midnight!) In her book, "Slow" Brooke McAlary says she did a month long experiment where she got 8 hours sleep and she says that the difference was day and night. Her brain and body worked better, she lost weight, felt calmer, was more productive, read more books, fell asleep more rapidly, woke more refreshed and had so much more energy and mental clarity". I am absolutely committed to giving this a go (I hope Banjo is on board!) but I'm also a realist. I know there are going to be nights where I have deadlines I need to meet or a teething toddler who likes to throw my plans about the window.
So I'm going to start small with something I know is achievable and do it 1 night every weekend and I will aim to work up from there.
If you're a mama with a little one who wakes frequently throughout the night, I know this post is going to make you click on the "dislike" button but there are ways to get more sleep (even if it's broken). I know it's so tempting to stay up after Bub has gone to bed so that you can have some much needed time on your own or with your husband) but choose sleep over Social Media or Netflix- even if it's just one night a week. I promise you will feel better for it.

So I finally made my Facebook page active and shared with all my friends. I revealed myself to be one of those weirdos that breastfeeds an older kid 馃ぃ馃ぃ The response has been great though!
If you fancy following us over on Facebook go give us a like and/or a share, it would be much appreciated. The people we reach the better 馃槂 #normalisebreastfeeding #talkaboutbreastfeeding

"No safer place in all the world
No better place to rest
No calmer harbour can be found
Than that of mother's breast

Love, that is, to nurse." 鉂わ笍 #breastfeedingmom #breastfeedingtoddler #2yearsandcounting #25months #toddlersofinstagram #normalizebreastfeeding #nursing #motherdaughtertime #ourlittlemoments #soinlovewithher #mylittleprincess #naturaloxytocine

Jangan lupa ASI setidaknya 2 tahun 馃槝馃槝馃槝#chelseagwen #anakasi #29monthsoldnow #perkembangananak #perkembanganbatita #toddlerdevelopment #breastfeedingtoddler #tumbuhkembanganak #asis3

Many nights I've spent like this during my pregnancy. Nourishing and nurturing two lives at once. My love on the inside and my love on the outside. I've been sharing my body for the last 3 years through pregnancy, breastfeeding an infant, breastfeeding toddler, and now this pregnancy that has flown by. I've been fortunate to have pretty relaxed pregnancies. I'm preparing the best I can with knowledge, courage, and compassion towards myself and my family with the transitions heading our way. I'm excited for our new life and wanted to capture just a moment through a painting. The red moon symbolizes Akira's name in kanji "akatsuki", the lotus blooming through the murky waters symbolizes our journey through motherhood, breastfeeding, and pregnancy all together with his and my hands on our growing Kazuki . 馃檹馃徏 #breastfeeding #breastfeedingtoddler #breastfeedingpregnant #lotus #doula #growingfamily #nurture #natural #genkimama #hypnobirthing #hypnobirthingbaby
