How incredible is the female body?? In honor of #nationaladoptionmonth we wanted to briefly talk about breastfeeding adopted infants. IT’S POSSIBLE! 🤱🏽
.
New Mommas are able to nurse their adopted babes by either taking supplements a couple months prior to prepare her body, stimulate her nipples with a hospital grade #breastpump [like the ones we offer in store] or simply immediately place babe to breast. As we know, each woman produces a different amount of milk - it’s not possible to predict but any amount of #breastmilk is beneficial!

“Skin-to-skin will help you learn your baby's cues. It will also increase the level of prolactin you produce. Prolactin is a hormone responsible for helping your body to make milk. Many mothers find that latching their babies is easier when they are held skin-to-skin. It can also calm a fussy baby. If you are unable to breastfeed because your baby is sick or premature, you will have to express your milk. Holding your baby skin-to-skin helps your body make more milk.” - @lalecheleagueusa 📸: @angelickpicture via @auliquidgold #liquidgold #breastfeeding #breastmilk #breastfeed #breastfeedinginpublic #breastfeedingmama #breastfeedwithoutfear #breastfeedingfacts #babyfood #newmom #newmommy #newmommylife #newbornbaby #workingmom #normalizebreastfeeding #skintoskin #microbes #bacteria #powerofbreastmilk #prolactin

If you haven't started using essential oils yet, PLEASE consider! Essential oils have amazing benefits! When used during pregnancy and postpartum, they help promote health and well-being during a time when the body needs extra support. I love researching the use of essential oils and only stick to the legit medical studies. This is very important when researching essential oils. You want to make sure that you are reading accurate information and not just heresay and opinion. It is also important to know your oils! Make sure the quality of oil is pure and rigorously tested. I personally only use #Doterra because of the 3rd party testing the medical studies using specifically #Doterraoils. Here is a study on the use of rose oil during labor. *Please note that there are oils that are NOT safe to use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Research safety prior to using any oils during these times. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29526235

Babies often swallow air during feedings, which can make them fussy. You can prevent this by burping your baby frequently. Try burping your baby every 2 to 3 ounces (60-90 milliliters) if you bottle-feed, and each time you switch breasts if you breastfeed.
⠀⠀
If your baby tends to be gassy, has gastroesophageal reflux, or seems fussy during feeding, try burping your little one every ounce during bottle-feeding or every 5 minutes during breastfeeding.

Another Mom must have item when it comes to breastfeeding and pumping is the @medela_sa Breast Milk Storage Bags which enables you to store extra breast milk in the fridge or freezer. Having a good reserve of breast milk ensures that your baby will not need alternative food and ensures that should you be away from your baby during feeding time someone else will be able to give your baby what he / she needs.

Doctors, nurses, and midwives often inform mothers to #pumpanddump their breast milk for 24 hours after receiving anesthesia to avoid passing medications to the infant. However, many studies have found that the use of general anesthesia and most commonly used medications for pain relief are in fact SAFE and should not interfere with breastfeeding because only minimal traces of the anesthetic are passed on through the breast milk.

Not sure, you can always confirm with #infantriskhotline to answer all of your questions. 🤱🏻💉😷

“Breastfeeding doesn’t have to be all or nothing - it isn’t a pass/fail event. Asking for help and accepting your journey as it unfolds will help you to remember that you and your baby are what are most important.” -Jessica Martin-Weber @theleakyboob 📸: @nourishconsulting
