I would say that 99% of my day is attempting to sit down unsuccessfully.
I had a little moment of excitement today when I thought to myself “oh I’ll be forced to sit down when I’m feeding baby no3...” Then I remembered 🤔🙄 I wouldn’t have it any other way. Bring on the chaos! 💪🏻 I thought these illustrations summed it up very well 😂😂

Laid back nursing. Literally. 🤱 .
.
Discovered I have a forceful let down also known as over active letdown. This is where babe can’t handle the fast flow of milk & often coughs or chokes on the milk making him super gassy & causes him to spit up. I reached out to my local La Leche League Facebook Group & received so much great advice and support. So after adjusting a few things- pumping a little before feeding, laying back, elevating his head, changing positions, burping often- I think we might’ve hit our stride. Granted my milk is still in the establishing supply time so things may change but feeling positive about this new discovery. My husband said “breastfeeding is like a science experiment” and it truly is. 🔬 .
.
The irony is that with Julian I had latch issues & low supply and had to build up my supply using a twin pump 🤪 and feeding him every hour and a half. So now I have an over supply with Wilder. Just goes to show you every pregnancy, labor, baby, & breastfeeding is so different! 🙌

Born on 14th February
Birth weight 2.1kgs
My weight after delivery 97.5😔

As per the hospital protocols they did a blood sugar test. At birth the baby had a blood sugar level of 50… which is normal, but it kept fluctuating.
Our pediatrician decided to observe our baby's blood sugar levels prefeed & 1 hour post feed for 3 days our baby's blood sugar levels fluctuated between 41(prefeed) - 65 (postfeed)

As new Parents this was the most difficult part for us - seeing our baby's feet being poked so many times that his feet would turn blue, with no space left to poke anymore.
It's a known thing that milk production in New mothers will increase from 3rd day of delivery.. Till then we will be producing limited amount of colostrum which will be enough to meet the new borns nutritional requirements.
In our case we had to work on increasing our baby's weight & to maintain the blood sugar levels above 50,and this wasn't possible with my milk alone.
Our pediatrician then suggested to put the baby on top feed Along with my feed. We also had latching issues.
Our baby wasn't able to latch on to me as he is very weak & would hardly have any energy to suckle.
So we would express my milk & feed the baby thru these spoon feeding bottles.
Using these spoon bottles would ensure that the baby doesn't get used to bottle feed or to formula & would naturally latch to the mother instead of getting used to silicone nipples or soothers.
So we followed the doc's advise, fed the baby with formula milk and breast milk and by the 4th day our Baby gained 100grams, his blood sugar levels stayed above 50.

Mums, pls any advice for this mum?

Thank you

Super proud of this🎀 Being able to pump 1oz after feeding. With my first I had such a Hard time and made it 3 months along with supplements but Day 5 I felt like giving up but I have fought through the pain and tonight I got 1oz!! #breastfeedingchallenge

Following up to yesterday’s post, as a #lactationconsultant the biggest #breastfeedingchallenge I hear my clients talk about is with milk supply. Mainly, “do I have enough milk” or “is my baby getting enough.” So often, they are shocked to see how much baby is getting once I weight baby through pre- and post-weight checks. More times than not a low #milksupply is only perceived. However, I do see many cases when mom truly is experiencing #lowmilksupply so the question then becomes...”how do I know if my supply is good or not?” My A to that Q —> Find a QUALIFIED #lactationspecialist who can support you, listen to your concerns, and make an educated plan of care based on medical history, weight checks, etc. You got this, mama! 💕 📸 @_chasingrivers_ #breastfeeding #breastfeedingu #breastmilksupply #momlife #babylove #mamalove #liquidgold #ibclc #yougotthismama #breastfeedingsupport

The vegan version of my mama’s most awesome salad. This one is minus the eggs and obviously with an egg free mayonnaise, because my little one doesn’t tolerate eggs and I must comply with his dietary restrictions. Because I’m a mama now. And apparently, that’s what mamas do. I wanna say fuck this shit because I’m a foodie to the bone, but I’m enjoying all these dietary restrictions. I like having to think really really hard about what to eat, and there’s something very empowering about saying no. And I’m definitely still in the honeymoon phase of breastfeeding because we’ve started solids and the grass ain’t greener....... his clothes and hands and face however are from the courgettes purée 😂 #veganalternatives #polishsalad #eggfreelife #breastfeedingchallenge #infantallergy #thingsmamasdo #dietaryrestrictions #startingsolids #beansbeansbeans

Want my nursing bra advice? For the first bit, wear something comfy, with easy access that you don’t care about getting stained with lanolin (or whatever nipple cream you’re using). I bought so many nice (and expensive) wireless nursing bras and I ruined them 😖 So get something cheap that does the trick. Then when you’re feeling like putting on a real bra again, go to @evymama and pick up one (or three) of these @cachecoeur_lingerie nursing bras. The clasps are magnets, which makes it so easy to get your boob in and out of!! It’s the only nursing bra I own that I can actually undo and do up with one hand. Plus I feel super sexy in it!! ~~~

Breastfeeding is beautiful, but it's not always easy! Keep in mind our slogan - we've got your front, mamas! 💕

Single handed breakfast bowl. Minus peanut butter 😫 I’m a big fan of all things nutty. So when my little one began showing signs of allergies/sensitivities to something I was eating, I did the only thing I could think of doing: i quit all allergens. No dairy. No soy. No eggs. No nuts. No peanuts. No corn. No wheat. I had been officially off dairy for months but found milk in my magnesium supplement. Wtf? That was apparently causing havoc on his digestive system (I blame the vaccines but that’s a whole separate controversial story I don’t feel like getting into). So I quit everything. After a few weeks I introduced eggs in a small amount and things were looking good. I was ready to introduce nuts by the end of the year and was making grand plans with the eggs. I had an omelette yesterday and BAM. He reacted. No quiches for this mama anytime soon. Which is super sad because I had mastered the art of them while I was pregnant.... #allergenfreelife #breastfeedingchallenge #breakfastbowl #veganfood #eggfreelife #coconut #coconutyoghurt #blueberries #sunflowerseeds #chiaseeds

THIS. All of us at bamboobies love and support you, mamas!! 📸: @bfmamatalk

"When I first became a mom, I told my friends I wanted to breastfeed. I didn’t have a clue that it wasn’t going to be all natural and beautiful, and no one told me otherwise. I felt like a contortionist doing all the little things the lactation consultant suggested. Soon, my nipples were cracked and sore from my baby trying to latch and it was challenging because we were both learning a new skill. When I asked my mom friends about my breastfeeding issues, they filled me in some, but it wasn’t something they proactively told me about before." - bamboobies Founder & CEO Kerry Gilmartin shares her #breastfeeding journey on @the_mama_sagas, giving lots of reasons to be thankful. Magical Multitasking!

How do nursing parents do it? By feeding any time, any where, and any way that works for the parent and child.
Support parents to feel comfortable nursing in all different environments by giving a smile to the parent. This tiny, effortless act of smiling does more than you know.

This sign of approval shifts our culture back to a place where human milk is normal, or maybe even awesome. Its more than just making that parent's day, or possibly reassuring someone who is nervous, its making a difference in this world that brings us closer together, that reminds us that we are all human.

@Regranned from @rematriate_ - My name is Ki-shi papso kinew-ikwe. Which means "Circling Eagle Woman." in Ojibway. From my mother's side I'm Ojibway/ Anishinaabe from Waywayseecappo First Nations, Manitoba (Treaty 4). I'm also Coast Salish from Tsleil-Waututh Nation, North Vancouver. My Government Name its Elisha Williams aka "Indigenous Barbie". I'm a pugglier owner & life giver of 2 beautiful son's. Derrick who is 12 and my recent son I gave birth to 4 weeks ago named Quill Odayin. My son Derrick is named after my brother Charles Derrick Oudie who tragically passed away in 2015 at the age of 26. I always admired my brother growing up, he was an athletic hockey player who graduated on time and received high marks afterwards in courses he took. Me and my family are trying to get his name #JusticeforCharlesOudie out because like many of us we are affected by the injustice our people are still going though with the Police (VPD) & investigations with MMIGW and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Boy's and Men. I have faith one day our families will have the justice and closure we need. Prayers go out to these families.
