It’s the year of #squadgoals (at last check, more than 770,000 posts on Instagram) and I'm feeling inspired by the girl gangs around the world who support each other’s success. You may have heard about celebrity squads, groups of Hollywood ladies who have each other’s backs on stage at performances and award shows, making cameos in music videos or just cooking together.
But beyond a pretty picture, squad goals are the things you’d like your gang to accomplish, it's hanging with like minded, goal oriented people--whether it’s adventurous (mounting climbing!) career-oriented (promotions in six months for everyone!) , support based (hello toddler mom's group!) or just fun (let’s all support Sam at her kickball game!)-- that's what they are there to do. They uplift each other, they cheer each other on and they truly want each and every one in their squad to find unbelievable success. 💯
Girl squads are very real groups of close friends — the women who you love, trust and are there for every milestone. It's like of like having Wonder Woman multiplied by 100 all in your inbox to be your besties!
What was the best thing about having a girl squad for me today?
Hearing one of the girls in my squad tell us about one of her "friends" that mocked her for not having what she considered a "real business"--actually much worded uglier than that😲👎. So... What does this incredibly strong, insightful boss babe say to us? "I don't take business advice from poor people" 😂😂😂 #roasted.
Soooooo... Trust me when I say... We ALL were once poor in my squad. Like me even having to rely on my church and the government at my lowest point so I want to be clear this is not an insensitive comment...none of us were born with a silver spoon in our mouths. But we ARE talking about business here and when someone who is NOT finding success in life tries to verbally attack and belittle someone that has already broken their glass ceiling. So before you go criticising a girlfriend for taking a risk..you might want to ask her for a ride... In that new car her "not real" job just gave her. 💯
