I used to eat bagels , waffles, cereal, or basically any carb loaded food for breakfast until I finally realized eating those foods were making me crash a few hours later. Not only were they making me crash I was starving all day long!

Now I start my day with some sort of protein every morning and less carbs. I am more focused, I have more energy, and I don't crash a few hours after.

Eat the yolk! I think it's golden nutrition. 40% of the protein is there, plus every B vitamin, and A,D,E,K....all of the fat-soluble vitamins. You couldn't ask for a more nutritious breakfast! .

My egg bin. 😊 A breakfast high in protein not only aids in fullness and satiety (yes these are different) but on average individuals eat 450 calories less throughout the day. For this reason protein is the #1 macronutrient for weight loss. It takes more energy for the body to metabolize protein than carbohydrate. Anything over 30 grams in 1 setting is unnecessary as the body can only absorb 30 grams at a time. Typical nutrient goals for protein is 90-100 grams, adults don't need more than 120 grams, the body can't utilize it. Great breakfast sources are eggs, yogurt, meat (bacon or turkey) or fish (salmon), protein shakes (I make specific recommendations for my patients because these are not all created equal), nut butters and seeds (the latter is a good alternative for vegans and vegetarians). Fruits are very low in protein but the best options are melons, berries, and grapefruit. Body builders or athletes may need more carbs for training purposes and the level of physical activity. Diabetics should avoid carbs for breakfast.
