It is said that the Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin when he first saw Brasilia was dazzled by the view from the airplane window. "It was an unforgettable impression." Gagarin would have said, "It looks like I landed on another planet." The city-monument, shaped like a bird with open wings, boosted the graphic design and inaugurated the 'constructivism' architecture movement in Brazil. The architecture of Brasilia, even fifty years on, still impresses with modernity and daring.
