Yes I am✌🏻 I’ve learnt that you are way more resilient than you ever think.
That even the most difficult roads lead to beautiful destinations.
Fear stops you living.
If people in your life can’t support you at your best, they don’t deserve your time when you are struggling.
Simplicity is the key.
Do what makes your happy.
Love is the most important thing.
Just a few Sunday thoughts 💭

Day 342. We watched Casino Royale last night en famille -the start of my boys’ Bond journey. I’ve pasted a light hearted article below about James’s alcohol consumption:- James Bond is an 'impotent drunk'
By James Gallagher
Health and science reporter, BBC News
13 December 2013
Doctors say James Bond, has a drink problem
Vodka martini, "shaken not stirred" - often said as part of a bad Sean Connery impersonation - is one of the most quotable lines from Bond.
Yet Her Majesty's top secret agent's love of the bottle would leave him impotent and at death's door.
Doctors analysing the Ian Fleming novels show James Bond polishes off the equivalent of one and a half bottles of wine every day.
They say he is not the man to trust to deactivate a nuclear bomb.
Doctors in Derby and Nottingham sat down to read the 14 Bond novels in their spare time.
With a notebook at hand they charted every day and every drink.
Excluding the 36 days Bond was in prison, hospital or rehab, the spy downed 1,150 units of alcohol in 88 days.
It works out at 92 units a week - about five vodka martinis a day and four times the recommended maximum intake for men in the UK.
Graph showing Bond's alcohol consumption
The doctors' report in the festive edition of the British Medical Journal concluded: "Although we appreciate the societal pressures to consume alcohol when working with international terrorists and high stakes gamblers, we would advise Bond to be referred for further assessment of his alcohol intake."
Patrick Davies, a consultant in paediatric intensive care at Nottingham University Hospitals, told the BBC: "You wouldn't want this person defusing a nuclear bomb.
"He's a very glamorous person, he gets all the girls and that's totally incompatible with the lifestyle of an alcoholic, which he is."
He said Bond would be classified in the "top whack" of problem drinkers and would be at high risk of liver damage, an early death and impotence.
"So he might be practising safe sex after all” #braintumourawareness #charity #doingwellbydoinggood #braintumour #dry365 #bond #jamesbond #casinoroyale #007 #martini #shakennotstirred

Hey I’m Sarah 👋 ⠀
not sure if I’ve ever done an intro, but for followers new and old here it’s goes! ⠀

—⠀

I was diagnosed with a brain tumour two years ago and yeah, it has been a MASSIVE headf*ck... since then, I’ve been sharing bits about my ‘journey’ (urgh) on here ⠀

It’s why I 💯 believe we’re here for a good time, not a long time so let’s make the most of it ✨⠀

—⠀

Brain surgery changed a lot of things: I’ve got a collection of sassy walking sticks, had to ditch the heels, and can’t really bring the slut drop 😂⠀

I’m a December baby, live in Manchester, love clothes, red lipstick 💄 and 90s R&B. Since finishing 18 months of treatment in March, (and despite now being pregnant) 🤰 I’m *kinda* starting to feel a bit more like me ✔️⠀

—⠀

Recently, I’ve been sharing stories from other incred babes over on my blog upperstoryclub.com They’re all living their lives the best way they can - and challenging the current #braintumour narrative 🧠⠀

So that’s it ⠀

Thanks for being here!! 💘⠀
Now I wanna hear more about what makes you YOU 🤗 what do I need to know?

Day 341. 24 days left of the year and whilst festive focus is strong there exists a buzzing gnat of compulsion to reflect, review and look forward to next year. Prolonged abstinence (being alcohol free) for charity might have appeared bonkers but actually, it has been brilliantly life affirming. I’ve learnt that I have an addiction -sugar. I am completely and utterly driven by the stuff. To the point that I have to set myself “one day at a time” mini-targets to ensure I don’t mainline any available stash. I’ve learnt that mini-targets are the way forward for me when setting goals... a main sense of purpose with small steps mapped out. Admittedly this might appear blindingly obvious to you, but to me, someone who had for a long time had not had the confidence to have self-belief and purpose (for me), it’s been a revelation. All of my goals have been focused externally -for example, rightly on my boys. I can remember interviewing for my job in 2013, I was asked where I saw myself in five years. It was the hardest question they had asked me. I had zero clue because, I couldn’t see beyond two weeks. I had my head down, one foot in front of the other. Now it’s up. #doingwellbydoinggood #dry365 #charity #fundraising #braintumourawareness #braintumour #musing #goals #purpose pic3 Mum on the beach in Scotland #gortenfern #forher

Day 340 ✅ 6 years ago we thought Mum was at the end of her life. She was taken into hospice to be looked after having been very poorly due to an infection of sorts. At that time, in late November 2012, Ken telephoned me to give me two week’s notice in order that I could organise childcare and travel to be present as a marriage witness at hospice for the morning of Friday 7th December (2012). I was on my own at this time with the boys (then 5 and 3 years old) but thanks to kindly neighbours and our old babysitter Helen, I was able to get on an early train from Durham to Margate via Kings Cross. About a 4-5 hour journey one way. I can remember how cold it was and wet. It was just as cold and wet on the Kent coast as it was in Durham. A storm was pounding at the hospice chapel windows as a precious few gathered to witness Mum and Ken get hitched. Ken had only told my sister and brother the night before the wedding and word had seeped out on the morning of the service. No bells, no whistles, just love ❣ Mum fell asleep during the service. The nurses had painted her nails and helped her get dressed in a wedding outfit. A hairdresser had visited to help style her hair and make her up. She looked so beautiful and colourful. After the service the hospice kitchen staff surprised Ken with a buffet and cake. Mum had retired to her bed. I was dropped off at the station early evening and travelled all the way back home -taking much comfort in the podgy arms of my boys. I thought Mum would die that Christmas. She was a stubborn old bird and rallied for another 4 and a half years after that cold wet bittersweet day. Happy anniversary to Mum and Ken #love #anniversary #dry365 #charity #fundraising #hospice #braintumourawareness

How much more productive is it to be around other people? It’s one thing I miss since becoming #freelance after I finished chemo (as well as the office ‘treat table’!!) 🍫🍪🧁⠀
Fellow freelancers... where to do you go for a boost when you’re lagging? ⠀

These two 💕

The highlight of Elena’s day is almost always picking up Kate from school. They wanted their mittens off so they could hold hands while they walked. I know they probably won’t always be this close, but I hope they are 💖

I’ve been told that Kate will grow up with a different mindset than most because she’s growing up with a “sick” sibling. One of the doctors said she will grow up knowing life isn’t a guarantee, that may or may not be true, however her level of empathy is amazing. ✨

Leo joined us at @carlisleracecourse with his older brother, Will back in August! Following a fabulous day at the races, Will shared with us this lovely message: .
.
‘I would like to sincerely thank you for giving Leo and myself a fantastic, yet humbling, day filled full of smiles.
.
.
I know for an absolute fact that Leo enjoyed it; the rest of us did too! Yesterday was my first experience of horse racing and I found it fascinating.

Meeting all of your guests was a humbling experience and seeing their smiles really lifted me, I’m never too amazed when I see beautiful smiles you have produced as I know that’s what you are exceptional at doing’.

Day 337. I was treated to @oivavoiband last night and what a treat it was. “Refugee” and “Big Brother” especially moving... Mum was the daughter of WW2 Polish Refugees. Her parents came to England following their release from work camps having been captured during the war. The lyrics to “Refugee” remind us all to be a little more compassionate. I should also declare that @annaphoebemusic is probably the most enigmatic graceful and bendy violinist I have ever seen. Ever. AND rumour has it, she heralds from big Deal where Mum lived and where Ken the Legend still lives. Feeling the love this morning ❤️ #charity #fundraising #dry365 #braintumourawareness #love #refugee #compassion #Deal

"Sometimes, having a brain tumour and going through the recovery, the maintenance, and treatment of it can lend itself to the morose and to self pity. But it doesn’t have to, it can, perversely, open up a new world full of a joy that had been previously, a mystery." Stephen Newman

The bravest little girl I know ❤️ this last month has been the hardest of my life. Her next oncologist appointment has come through for middle of February; just waiting on her MRI appointment now.
