Me when I see fellow feminists propagating 'Male Tears'...Stop. Let us not place our victory in a long held struggle on the shoulders of the defeat of men. You want to destroy the patriarchy, not every man and his freedom of emotional expression. Moreover, when you laugh in the face of a man saying 'Not All Men'...remember you are contributing to a culture of condescension and intimidation. Let us not put people down, as it always has been. It is not necessary that one wins and one loses. Let us have men and women walk side by side. Feminism pertains to the rights and freedoms of women - but do not forget that men can be feminists too, along with women, fighting for the same cause - from Montesquieu to 21st century activists and actors to your male relatives.
In light of how herd mentality can blind us, let us think for ourselves, stand up for what we think is right, and fight for it. The hypocrisy in hashtagging #notallmen on one post and #yesallwomen on the next, #boyscrytoo on one and #maletears on the next, fighting for a cause as important as feminism and losing way by trying to triumph over another gender instead of aiming for equality and harmony amongst both, that is where we go wrong.
When we say we want to 'win' - winning means respect. It means freedom. It means dignity and equality. It means carrying forward the legacy of powerful, strong, inspiring women and finishing what they started. It does not mean putting down another gender and does not entail that there can only be one 'winner'..Equality is equality, let there be no dominant sex.
Remember - Beauvoir and Angelou did not accomplish what they for the movement by following what others said and did. They walked against the strongest tides and created revolutions.
