I learned from the best: Jennifer Lopez.
In my eyes she is a goddess. I grew up idolizing her because as a little brown girl, she was one of the first girls on TV that looked like me and represented my dreams of making it in a world where certain people are not welcome.
Before Jennifer hit it big, she was just a little-known dancer. She talked of always striking a pose or dancing with spirit in order to get noticed.
Well, I took notes from her. Picture this: I joined a new boxing gym around the start of 2017. So at that point I was the newbie. On March 1, 2017, a photographer came by to shoot some fighters while training the day before their fights (I was not fighting). I wanted a share of the spotlight too so I made sure to shadowbox and hit the bag with extra finesse that night. Lo and behold, the photog asked me if I wanted to be photographed, to which I obliged.
I asked for his contact info and he sent me the photos. Later he posted an album on Facebook and I noticed that not everybody in the gym got photographed in the same attention, even people that had been there much longer than me.
The moral of the story is: If you want to be noticed, you should be a SUBJECT worth noticing.
