Here's the new workout craze about to sweep the hunting world. #BowFit. I'm not a very good archer but I thought I would put my skills to the test. I like experimenting with new things. So to mimic an elevated heart rate(buck fever) that occurs before taking a shot on an animal I put myself through a little work out of : 5 burpees, 40m farmers walk, 40m sandbag carry, 1-40inch box jump, 10 sumo deadlift high pull. It took me two shots and 2:05 to complete. The first shot hit to the right but the second was dead nuts on the ballon. We would call these "stress shoots" in the Army. These skills also transfer beyond shooting with the ability to be accurate or make good decisions under duress. I think the skill of making good decisions under stress is universal to everyone regardless of your job and like any skill it should be practiced. Anyone can make a good decision in a perfect situation. Imagine a situation where your boss hands you a bunch of new projects at work while you're going through a death in the family. Micro goals are a tool you can use to handle stress and be calm and collected when tough times happen. With CrossFit you can practice micro goals during a work out. By setting small goals you have the ability to see progress quickly. For instance in a long work out like "Murph" you may break the pull ups, push ups and squats into manageable numbers. Like 5-10-15 and only focus on completing one round at a time. While reinforcing your goals with positive self talk during the work out like "one round at a time, I've got this" will also help you keep moving. By practicing this skill in the gym when your boss hands you a bunch of new projects and you're going through a tough time at home. You can fall back on these micro goals that you have used in the gym to break your work projects into those manageable chunks. I realized I just went off on a huge tangent and I really don't know how I got to this point but I'm glad I did. So next time your faced with a large task try breaking it up into small chunks. Hopefully this will help you remain calm and be able to make better decisions under stress. #crossfit #bowfit #strongerfasterpowerful #CFGR #useyourfitness

Outside of taking a mature buck, our other goal for the year is to carry a giant out of the woods. Deadlifting is a great way to train for that goal. I've been in FL all week for work so my diet and exercise schedule was a little off, but even after a day of travel back home I hit a 390 deadlift with no straps or belt.
