Clinical tuberculosis in a young Friesian heifer.
This year old heifer has just failed an intradermal tuberculin test (note the large reaction on the bottom/bovine tuberculin site). The interesting thing about this case, is that the heifer has respiratory stridor (snore), almost certainly as a result of chronically inflammed retropharyngeal glands, caused by the Mycobacterium bovis bacteria.
TB continues to be a problem on Irish farms, despite an ongoing eradication programme. The role of wildlife, particularly badgers, in the epidemiology, plays a major part in spread of the disease. #veterinary #vetzoot #vetsnobiety #bovinevet #veterinarymedicine #veterinarysurgery #medvet #cowvet #bovinevet
