This #WhiskyWednesday I’d like to talk about everyone’s favorite topic: glassware. Specifically, what do you look for in a whisky glass? What is your go-to glass for sipping whisky neat? On the rocks?
It’s no secret that when drinking whisky neat, I tend to lean toward the Copa Copita glass. For me it’s the ideal vessel for experiencing the full spectrum of flavors and aromas in a single malt whisky. But there are also times when I just want to drink whisky as opposed to nose and taste it. For that, I care less about fluid dynamics as I do look, feel and durability.
Pictured above is the upcoming Duo Glass from @agedandore, a new company started by a fellow whisky enthusiast here in Chicago. Duo was engineered to be the perfect glass for the casual, every day whisky drinker. The shape of the glass holsters the sphere perfectly so that it doesn’t tumble around while the dual wall keeps the natural heat of your palm from warming the chilled beverage inside. The horizontal rivets also serve as a measurement guide, which I find to be pretty useful. For me, it’s undoubtedly the best ice ball glass I’ve used to date and it’s brought a lot of fun to my whisky drinking experience.
