Unable to find a job as an au pair teaching languages to kids, Brooke finds herself working at a prestigious country club where the teens with pedigree are scary and the adults even more so! But a tip is a tip and she has her tricks to ensure she gets them 😂 "My toolbox includes a girlish laugh, a giddy thank-you, and a nauseating "Oh you." I worry that someday I might slip and tell him to go screw himself." But there is one thing that makes her shifts at the country club more interesting. James Ashwood, Porsche-driving billionaire with an attitude to match. She knows he's unattainable, but she can't help obsessing over him, along with every other female who works there. "I use the next few hours during my shift to dissect James Ashwood, as if by breaking him down into chewable parts, he’ll be easier to assess and subsequently dismiss." Brooke has a chance to get to know the real James Ashwood, not the swoon-worthy, arrogant tycoon that everyone assumes he is.
Unfortunately for them, there doesn't seem to be any middle ground.
They want different things, but there's an undeniable attraction that they keep fighting. Unfortunately it's not always enough. Sometimes you have to follow your head. And sometimes your heart doesn't agree. Brooke has a clear vision for her future, but so does James and they can't both have what they want.
There were twists and turns and I loved how Brooke remained true to herself when so many others would have weakened in the circumstances she found herself in.
Despite the fantasy element of rich tycoon meets ordinary girl, there was such a realistic feel to their relationship. The romantic in me was wishing for certain things to happen and each time they didn't it was still okay, because the author kept me wanting more, proving the point that not all love stories happen like they do in the movies.
This is my first book from author R.S. Grey but I love her witty writing style 😍 Have you guys read anything from this author yet? 😁
