Back at the turn of the century (😁) I fed my dogs a raw diet, or BARF. Bones And Raw Food. Although I hadn't eaten meat myself for nearly 15 years at that point, it felt right and good to feed them this way.
Now I have different dogs, and a couple of extra decades of plant-based eating behind me. I find it extremely challenging to look at meat, let alone handle it. There are excellent pre-prepared raw food companies out there but you get what you pay for and three dogs on that is more than I can afford.
For the past two weeks I've been having veg juice in the morning and the dogs have some of the pulp. They love it. So I've done some research and found that this otherwise unwanted pulp, and frozen mince (and some extra bits), enable me to feed them all a raw diet again! For less than their current diet. I've cleaned and switched on the old chest freezer and we're starting soon. Excited!
