My new favorite way to experience pigeon: -Start seated on a bolster with butterfly legs
-Swing one leg behind you, keeping your front leg in front of the bolster. If you start to feel a stretch here, stay and explore. You can increase sensation by folding forward
-If you are ready for more sensation, you can straighten out your back leg, and tuck your front heel under the bolster
-Option to stay up on tall arms or start to fold forward bring your forearms to a block, and maybe even resting your head

This variation can help relieve some of the pressure you might feel in your front knee in pigeon without a bolster. It's also helpful in filling up the space between your hips and the ground so your muscles can feel more at ease to soften into the posture. Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Some of you have been asking for some relaxing asanas with a bolster – well here you are! 😊🌈 Restorative Yoga Poses – Hold each pose for 5 minutes + for deep relaxation. 🧘‍♀️ 1. Place hips under a bolster lying across the mat. Ensure hips are sitting securely on bolster. Raise legs so that they are hip width apart & placed directly under hips. Breathe here.
2. Draw one leg in towards your body and push out through opposite heel. On exhale draw leg towards you, inhale release an inch or so. Swap legs.
3. Inhale, take both arms over head to reach onto floor behind you or rest on a cushion. Find length through the front side of your body. Breathe here for a while.
4. Gently move bolster lengthways along your mat. Take your bottom to the base of the bolster (you may need a block under you here if backbend is too deep) and gently lie back onto the bolster. If the neck is not in line with the spine then place another block under the bolster to raise the head. Extend legs along the floor hip width apart or wider.
5. Shift the bolster back across the mat & lie back with your tailbone on the mat, ensuring that the bolster is lying across the mid-upper back. Lie back into fish pose, supporting the head with a block & soles of the feet together with knees supported. Arms released out to the side.
6. Prop the bolster from underneath & sit facing the bolster with it upright at an angle. Take legs wide apart & relax forwards. Head to the side or forehead onto the bolster.
7. Pigeon – take one leg in front & over bolster with foot to the inside. Opposite leg draws back along the mat. Even weight through both hips. Relax forward with hands into Yoni Mudra.
8. Take one hip alongside bolster & legs bent out to the side into a lying twist. Waist supported by the bolster. Relax here.
9. Take knees wide, toes together. Lean forward onto bolster into childs pose.
