Reposting this simple exercise by our very own Dr. K to help anyone with ankle, knee or hip pain.. it’s called the "short foot" exercise 👣 It’s called this because it literally shortens the foot when done correctly. The idea is to lift the arch to strengthen the arch muscles.Yes we have arch muscles. do your best to lift your arch without curling the toes. It also strengthens the glutes, quadriceps and shin muscles. More importantly it trains you to coordinate the movement with and alignment between your hip, knee and ankle. By doing so we resist the repeated collapse of the arch (over-pronation) that happens when you're walking, descending stairs, going down a slope or bending forward. Start with one hand on the wall for safety and as you gain the strength you can then do it without support.
