I used to hate sun salutations. Yes, I'm a yoga instructor. Yes, I know they are basically the epitome of what is known as yoga.
(side note, how weird does the word epitome look written down?!?!) Yes, people were confused when they showed up to yoga and there were no sun salutations to be found. I didn't care. I found them repetitive, overly (and unsafely) used, and frankly a bit boring.
•••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Somewhere along my yoga journey, (probably around the time I started doing ashtanga yoga a few years ago) I started looking beyond the movements. I began to think of sun salutations as LITERAL sun salutations - aka a way of saying say "Hey, what's up" to the sun and invite all of its magic into my life. I stopped constraining myself to what the movements 'should be' (because who really cares) and started exploring what felt good to me as I flowed through this energetic practice. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I can now say that I truly enjoy sun salutations and use them in my practice regularly as a way to bring sunshine into my life. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Which brings me to this - my second ever recorded yoga flow. This quick 20 minute flow is designed to strengthen and tone the body, get your blood flowing, and bring you to a sunshine state of mind. We will flow through a few different variations of sun salutations to leave you feeling energized and revitalized.
