It’s true, I don’t deadlift, I fucking hate deadlifting, the length of my femur makes it a very uncomfortable movement for me, so I just don’t do it. I rack pull, suits me better, I enjoy the movement more and I don’t have to force myself to do a movement that I hate.
The deadlift is a lower body and back builder, i can develop my legs elsewhere, arguably more efficiently, as on my leg days I can have lower body focus, and on my back day I don’t hinder my leg recovery. To be honest it wouldn’t matter what arguments were presented for me to programme this movement again, I just hate it.
My point is you do not have to do the conventional movements just because someone said they were how they got their mad gains, tailor your workout to suit you, enjoy your training and do it for a long time.
I do not transfer this bias onto clients, I implement deadlifts where necessary, but I feel people really don’t approach this exercise with the caution they should, and go heavy long before they are really can.
