I was looking back on some not-so-old photos today and realized how fascinating it is, that your body can change its form so quickly. This photo was taken in the middle of December. I was being really strict on diet and training because I had a goal in mind. Once that goal was completed I wasn't as strict, I didn't follow a precise plan. The result - I am not as shredded now, as I was just a mere 3 months ago. Now don't get me wrong, it's okay to indulge and not be strict on yourself 24/7. You still have to live life. 💪🏽 But it's important to know that a plan of attack and consistency in executing that plan is KEY 🗝 in achieving any physique goals you have. ☺️💋 Ps. Happy Humpday!

WHAT IS THE BEST WORKOUT/DIET?🤔 -
How many of you have asked this question before?

Like most people, we tend to seek the BEST and the FASTEST way to achieve results.
-
But what is good may not be fast, and what is fast may not last. 😅 And when it comes to "fitness", in bid to achieve fast results we attempt crash dieting methods like:
-
❌ NO CARBS
❌ SALAD ONLY
❌ NO MEAT
❌ NO... The list goes on!

Is the above wrong? Not necessarily. But is right? Well it depends. 🤔
There is a time and place for restricting certain macronutrients (👉🏻 Carbohydrates, Protein, Fat) based on a variety of factors which I won't cover in today's post.

The issue with such extreme attempts at dieting, is that it simply won't last (and can even cause health issues).
When it comes to BOTH dieting and training, the key 🔑 lies in ADHERENCE: Are you able to stick to the diet/training long term?

In the words of Eric Helms, "It doesn't matter how good your programming is if you cannot stick to it."

The 3 key 🔑 conditions to adherence are:
1️⃣ Realistic
2️⃣ Enjoyable
3️⃣ Flexible

Some questions to consider will be:
👉🏻 How soon do I need to get ripped?
👉🏻 How many days of training can I commit to?
👉🏻 What are the food choices available to me?
👉🏻 Can I prepare my food to work?

What do I recommend when it comes to dieting and training? 💭

🍎 DIET
As much as possible opt for whole & nutritious food. As cliché as it sounds, many of us are not eating enough food whole in nutrients. Nutrition includes both macronutrients (carbs, protein, fats) AND micronutrients (vitamins).

🏋🏻 TRAINING
For beginners, don't go heavy too fast. First focus on learning the exercises and movement patterns. As a sufferer of slipped disc (degeneration in disc L5S1), trust me you want to stay pain free.

👉🏻 Evaluate your current diet, and DO YOUR BEST to include healthier options in your meals 👉🏻 STOP your extreme dieting ways
👉🏻 Work on your form and learn the exercises
👉🏻 Don't be a hero, leave the ego at the door

I think that one of the greatest things about the fitness life, is that I know when I'm 70 years old and ask myself if I lived life to the fullest and enjoyed it, without a shadow of a doubt I'll be able to say yes. The gym is one of the few things in life that I have and always can count on, no matter what. Every day in the gym is a new opportunity to better myself and that's what I'm most thankful for.
