“The doors are already open, I am just passing through”. This is a little mantra that I’ve been saying to myself quite a bit in the past few weeks to remind myself that there really are no limitations, no closed doors, in terms of what I can do.
My whole life I have been a terrible narrative writer, or so I thought, so I made myself believe, and I’ve always told myself that I cannot do oral presentations or write poetry or *insert a million other limitations I have placed on myself*. But the strange thing is that all of the things I told myself I could never do are literally the things I have done the best in this year.
I’m not usually one to swear but f*** self limiting beliefs, because YOU and ME, we can do ANYTHING- and especially the things we think we cannot!!! I also love this mantra also because it reminds me that I don’t need to concern myself with the course of my life - which doors I walk through – I just need to focus on walking, on taking the next step. Whether that is doing one more maths question to study for a test or having a difficult conversation with someone about how I’m feeling, or maybe for you its just waking up and getting through the day.
This saying helps me to remember that by doing all those little things, I’m working towards my goals. So today, or any other day when things get rough, just remember to keep walking.
Let me know what your favourite mantra - the thing you say to yourself to inspire/encourage yourself - is in the comments below. I’d love to hear them
