Mum, I love you, goodbye, Rest in Peace
I can't believe that my 300th post is to remember my beloved mother who died on Sunday. I can't express how much she meant to me, the kindest and gentlest of people, I'm utterly devastated she's gone. .
For some reason my family never really took photos of each other, now that's a massive regret. This is the last photo I took of her in April, amongst the bluebells in Portumna forest. .
I hate that she's gone far too soon, she battled the disease all this decade. In April she seemed healthy and happy and looking forward to life. In May she started to get very sick, terribly thin and in and out of hospital all summer. .
Only a few weeks ago I found out she wouldn't survive, she kept the pain she was suffering from me, I guess a mother trying to protect her son to the last. She was determined to make it for a few more months. .
It was a shock to get the call on Sunday morning that we should come in as soon as possible. Thankfully, Mum, Dad and me got to spend her last few hours together. The staff at Milford Care home were a blessing, and made her comfortable at the end, so she could go peacefully and without pain.
It hasn't fully sunk in yet that she's gone. I'm more focused on preparing for the funeral than the realisation that she's gone. I can't imagine my life without her. The next few weeks and months will be tough for me and my dad.
