#shoutoutsunday This is Michael, he is puerto rican and African American. As a Hartford kid born and raised, he grew up listening to hip hop with his dad. He would try to rhyme over the songs that he heard. About 10 years ago Michael wanted to turn his love for music into a reality and started to fulfill his dreams of becoming a music mogul. Not only does he have a passion for music but he is currently developing his own clothing line, Team110 Apparel. Micheal has a pop up shop launching in the spring with their newest collection “Work Hard Eat Good” Collection. When asked about his clothing line, this is what Michael had to say.
“When we feel we are going hard and going to the max we say we’re going 100. But me I want to exceed that I want to show that there is no limit that beyond the sky there’s space and beyond space is only left to be found. So not only do we go 100 we want to reach 110 and that’s what we represent with team110.”
Michael and I went to high school together. Even though we didn’t talk much in then, I liked his energy continued to follow his life via social media. When I was diagnosed with depression and I started sharing my story, Michael was one of my first people who reached out for words of encouragement and shared about his own struggles with depression. It was refreshing to hear this from him and I was honored that he opened up to me. Since the start of Basic Latina he has been so encouraging during my lowest moments. He didn’t just provide me with music for the podcast but has been instrumental in making sure I kept my head up and I stayed focused on the positive. Michael is the definition of a hustler to me. With his gorgeous family, he’s been with his now fiancé since high school and they have 3 beautiful daughters, he continues to work on his music, clothing line and spread positive energy to people around him. Michael is an advocate to elevating other people of color through artistic and creative measures. Thank you Michael for being apart of the BLP team.🎤
