One of the hardest responsibilities I have to myself is managing my blood sugar levels. I grew up not having to worry about what I ate or when I ate it. It was a luxury that I so deeply miss.
The moment my world changed drastically was the moment my pancreas decided to stop functioning.
I had to learn through the drastic lows and highs how to balance an organ system that was never meant for a person to balance themselves.
I had to become my own pancreas.
It's a huge responsibility to manage my sugars 24/7. One miscalculation in a carb to insulin ration meal, and I could end up in a diabetic coma.
The first 12 months after being diagnosed is when my blood sugars were so out of control due to a new way of receiving insulin, that I didn't sleep. I was awake every night all through the night with fear that I would fall asleep and not wake up.
It was honestly one of the hardest fears I had to overcome. I couldn't live that way, stuck in the fear that my imperfections could kill me. Or I would just have stopped living.
It was my responsibility to myself to learn how to count carbs, figure out which foods needed how much insulin and everything else that Diabetes requires.
This disease is not pretty. I can honestly say, before I got diagnosed at the age of 21, I always thought nothing of the disease. Like all the person needed was a shot of medicine and they would be fine.
Nope. I was wrong.
This same mindset has overcome anyone who doesn't have a disease. You honestly have no idea until you acquire a disease, how much of a life changing experience it truly is.
So with that said, to anyone who bullies people who have some type of disease whether it be cancer, diabetes, colitis, endometriosis, etc; you should really be empathetic towards others. Because you have no idea how much they have had to overcome just to live their life as normal as they can.
And to the people who have illnesses of any type, you are strong, brave, and beautiful! Don't let anyone tell you differently.
You are a fighter, a warrior, and an overcomer.
Be proud of how far you have come, for not many people could do what you do on a daily basis. @beyondtype1

Coffee – tbh I am a once or twice a week kinda gal. Some weeks none at all 🤷‍♀️ For me, it has never been a big part of my life, but for so many of my clients, friends and family, the thought of parting with their brew is unheard of! 🙉

When it comes to coffee, I’d like you to think about three main points:
☕️ If you have anxiety, hormonal imbalances, or get the jitters from it, you might benefit from regular routine breaks. At the very least, see how you go without it (after that first 5-7 days of withdrawals!). Replace with dandelion, turmeric, matcha or chai latte’s or teas;
☕️ Secondly, if that is your main intake of cows milk, and you have multiple coffees daily, I’d look to cut down not only to reduce caffeine consumption but also dairy. That combination itself can contribute to IBS symptoms. Switch to soy, almond, black coffee or cut down altogether;
☕️Lastly, it is without a doubt one of the most pesticide-sprayed crops… 😬 so know where you are getting it from and opt for organic where possible. Even if just at home, so you can be less fussy when out and about.
I should also mention investing in a reusable cup as a top priority! this pic was taken before I bought mine, but I love it now & won’t buy a hot drink without it! 🙅
I hope this helps... Eeek don't hate me😅xx

Nom nom nom! Baby leaf salad, sugar snap peas, mange your, cottage cheese, Aldi Spanish platter (chorizo, Serrano ham, spicy olives, cheese), dressed in basil olive oil and melted butter! If I am still hungry afterwards I'll have a buttered slice of burger soya and linseed bread. Of course I could have carbs in the context of this meal, but I LOVE hot, buttered toast! @aldiuk

Ketones are the bodies preferred fuel source. The heart, liver and brain operate optimally running on this natural byproduct, produced by the liver once it uses up it's glucose and glycogen stores. HANDY TIPS TO DITCH SUGAR - DAY 18

For the month of June we are discussing how to ditch and detox from sugar.
People tend to crave sugary food which can wreak havoc on your health. Cravings are driven by the brain’s need for “reward” – not the body’s need for food. IF you can have one bite and stop there, then indulging a little when you get a craving is absolutely fine. But if you tend to binge and overeat as soon as you get a taste of sugary foods, then giving in to the cravings is the worst thing you can do.

When you’re hit with a craving, can you sit with it long enough to consider what’s under it, even for just one minute? Doing that – taking that one-minute break– can honestly have the most profound effect on your health. Can you broaden the gap between craving and filling your mouth? Become aware of these emotions, shine a light on them to see what’s actually happening underneath your cravings. Once you do that, you have created another option for yourself: Do I eat the brownie, or do I talk to my partner? Do I eat it, or do I sit and meditate, even for just a few minutes, to consider what’s happening and what my body actually needs? Can I find a way to answer that need from the body in a way that leaves me feeling more content?

Dr Jessica Hoogendoorn just shared this and I couldn't agree more! "Ok, this NEEDS to be said! Even if you are eating 100% organic, Whole 30, Paleo, Vegan or Keto, Wraps. Even if you are drinking what you think are "healthy" shakes, exercising 5 days a week and are fit and skinny as a fiddle. Even if you use all the essential oils available. Even if you ferment your own 'kraut and kombucha, make kefir out of raw milk and eat yogurt everyday. Yes, even then, you NEED a probiotic (with an antifungal). Even then you NEED to be concerned about balancing your blood sugar. You gotta kill that candida with special enzymes and an antifungal. You gotta keep that blood sugar from the vicious spiking cycle. I promise this is something every single one of us needs to address every single day." Our bodies are designed to feel amazing.....if you don't feel AMAZING every day, then this is most likely WHY! Plexus addresses THIS :) #naturalingredients #bloodsugar #healthy #guthealth #wellness #weightloss #health #inflammation #lifestyle #healthychoices #workfromhome #nutrition #healthylifestyle #motivation #plexusslim #entrepreneur #mompreneur #autoimmunedisease #allergies #inspiration #painrelief #energy #migraines #fitness #diabetes #success #love #happiness #sahm via @HashMeApp

I have been such a slacker when checking my BS! I need to quit snacking so much at night. I keep thinking I'm hungry, but I just WANT to eat. I don't really need to, I need to work on that! I think most of this is mental. It's not hard to walk...it's hard to make myself walk. I just need to do it and not think about it! .

And thank you for all the 💖💖 on my posts @akidfromcompton!! 😙😙💕 I am looking at the fitbit surge, do you still like it? Or maybe the charge 2...price is a little more manageable lol
