Where has Bow been for the last week?!?!
🚨 Vulnerability Alert 🚨 .
Last Thursday I had a little bit of a scare at my doctor’s appointment 👨⚕️ .
I don’t do well with needles, blood, etc. But I needed to have routine blood work done. 💉
“No biggie, Bow!! You’ve got this!!”
I usually feel a little light headed when having blood drawn. This time though, my whole face went numb, I couldn’t feel my hands or my feet, and I was having troubling seeing.
Before I knew it my doctor was back in the exam room, there was a blood pressure cuff on my arm (which I don’t remember them putting on me), and the nurse was calling for oxygen.
Fifteen minutes later I was relatively fine; but, my head was pounding.
My blood pressure has always been on the low end of normal. I add salt to almost everything to keep my blood pressure up. Turns out, while I was having blood drawn my systolic bp (the top number), dropped to 54. Below 90 is considered dangerous.
This drop in blood pressure triggered a migraine, which lasted all weekend.
I’m feeling much better this morning; but, I will be taking it easy the next three weeks by focusing on my nutrition and doing some yoga.🧘♀️ 🧘♂️ .........................
What have I learned from this??
.:: it’s not just okay to take time for yourself, it’s necessary .:: low blood pressure can be just as scary as high blood pressure
.:: anything and everything can be a migraine trigger
Where do we go from here?
.For the next few months I’ll be checking my blood pressure every morning and every night. I’ll also be tracking my diet and my migraines. This will help us determine if this was a fluke incident or if my migraines and blood pressure have always been related.
And I’ll be sharing my journey every step of the way!!
