1st ride on #SramRedeTap with #Blips: Super easy to install, setup and shifts achieved in minutes. The hardest part is choosing the most ergonomic position for yourself. Secure, re-wrap bar tape and ride.
On the bike they function flawlessly and actuate the derailers in the same time and fashion as clicking the shift paddle.
Do you need them? No. Are they rad? Hell yes!
The shift system on eTap is more evenly shared between both hands, left hand for up, right hand for down and together for FD shifts, so your left hand is now doing more than you're used to, whereas in mechanical groups the right hand did most of the work and the left only did occasional front shifts.
This is where blips change the game, you can now make shifts from the tops where your "lazy" left hand resides most of the time. Climbing is obviously advantaged as you can shift from either bar position.
The shifters will accept two blips per side so you could have sprint blips fitted in the drops too if you wanted.
Overall an unnecessary luxury that's going to make riding Sram Red eTap even more pleasurable to use. 🙌🏻
