✨ One of the common areas where people hold excess weight is the stomach area. It seems to be that area of the body that wants to be the hardest to get rid of. Frustrating 😫 I know! So I'm sharing these tips on how to lose that stubborn belly fat:
1️⃣calculate your calorie deficit - weight loss is simple: to lose weight you have to burn more calories than you consume. To know the calories you need to consume to lose weight, its helpful to download a fitness tracker, such as MyFitnessPal
2️⃣avoid liquid calories + drink water instead - water is zero calories so drinking more water will not add to your daily calories. Liquid calories from fruit juice + soda/pop + alcohol can add up quickly
3️⃣protein + veggies in every meal - adding protein to your meals keeps you fuller longer. Veggies, especially the cruciferous ones (broccoli, kale, etc.), are low in calorie, but high in fiber. Fiber is a micronutrient that also helps to keep us full
4️⃣reduce stress - stress is connected to weight gain because a high level of the stress hormone cortisol has been shown to increase appetite + drive cravings
5️⃣regular sleeping pattern - sleep deprivation causes weight gain. The more sleep deprived you are, the higher your levels of cortisol, which increases your appetite
6️⃣strength training 3-4 times a week - contrary to popular belief, women who strength train do not end of looking the like Incredible Hulk. Women don't have enough testosterone for that to happen naturally. When you have more lean muscle mass, your body is more metabolically active during the day, which means you burn more calories
