Just finished co washing my hair. First time ever. Hated it. Had to go back and wash it again. Hey, I tried. As a side note, I often get DM's with questions about my hair. This is totally fine and I'm happy to share whatever I have with you. However, one lady in particular tried to argue me up and down that I could not be black and that I had to be mixed. Listen, look, and learn. Obviously, I have naturally kinky curly hair. The left picture is of my hair blow dried. The right picture is of my hair tonight, after just washing it. I don't shy away from it. I'm black, no sugar no cream. It's 2017, so why is there so much ignorance still about black women and our hair? I've also had people to tell me to stop wearing weaves and just wear my real hair and not fold to European beauty standards. Please, have several seats. Shrinkage is deceiving. Extensions are deceiving. Eyelashes are deceiving. Makeup is deceiving. Waist trainers are deceiving. Beards are deceiving. Stockings are deceiving. Nails are deceiving. Hats are deceiving.
So what? Can we all just walk in our journey without trying to push someone else off the road? Hair, like anything, requires patience and care. And however you want to rock it while you care for it is completely fine, nor is it up for debate. That's it . Being a woman is hard enough. I salute all of the women in the world just trying to make a way, trying to feel as beautiful as they can, and trying to recognize their own self-worth. Do what makes you happy. And tonight, what makes me happy is a pint of Haagen-Dazs, my couch, and Pride and Prejudice. Das it.
