RepostBy @merciful.melanin: "A black #NYPD cop stood up to more than 50 N-bombs thrown at her from a handcuffed suspect — and didn’t flinch once, a disturbing video shows.
Showing an amazing amount of restraint, the woman officer stood her ground and never made eye contact with the racist suspect who had been taken into custody at a #Brooklyn gas station.
Suspect Ilya Freyman repeatedly screamed the N-word more than 50 times in the minute-long clip that took place outside the Ocean Auto Center on Ocean Ave. near Ave. O in Midwood on Wednesday.
The officer does not say a single word — and doesn’t even acknowledge his presence, the video shows.
One cop tries to intercede, but Freyman turns to him and yells “f--- you!” at him. He then turns back to the woman cop, screaming the N-word louder than before.
Freyman, 51, was arrested after he punched an attendant booth at the station, breaking the glass, officials said. He was also charged with harassment for his race-fueled — albeit one-note — rant.
The NYPD did not comment on the video on Friday. A spokeswoman said Police Commissioner James O’Neill’s thoughts were made known in an August Daily News op-ed, where he said, “As #cops, we have to have a thick skin.”
“NYPD officers know how to do their jobs with expertise and commitment to the public good,” O’Neill said in the op-ed. “Let no one confuse smart, effective policing that trusts and empowers our cops with some silly, false notion of ‘standing down.’ That does an enormous disservice to all New Yorkers.”
