If these walls could talk.. Good evening folks, I’m Eden here on my 2nd day of this takeover. There are few amazing ghost towns around Black Hills and Ardmore is one of them. It is just few miles south of Hot Springs and we can see some old abandoned buildings which looks so amazing against the starry night sky, well at least for me. When you are here, do respect the KEEP OUT signs. Photo - @eden_zoso
Happy day! Our Ameraucana chicken finally started laying eggs, and they are blue! So pretty! Also, check out @oldeorchardfarm, a new insta that my daughter started. She loves our chickens and helps take care of them. 😀
End of Season! Here's to having one of the best summer jobs out there with the @u.s.forestservice ! Putting boots to the ground and tools in the hands of the men and women who maintain and construct the very infrastructure of our public lands trails. All those squiggly lines on a map had some serious forethought to create and just as much effort to maintain. Unfortunately, I won't see another trail the same. #blackhills#happytrails
Who knew the #geology of the Black Hills in South Dakota was so freaking cool? On the drive up to #mountrushmore, you pass through so many different rock types exposed in the road cuts. If you don't like the geology, wait thirty seconds... The rocks will be different! Mount Rushmore is carved in a fine-grained granite (but don't take it for granted! 🤓), which is the core of the Black Hills. This granitic intrusion cooled unevenly, creating pegmatite rich granite in some places, and fine-grained granite in others (look closely and you can see the pegmatite rich granite in the wall behind me)... and if you look towards the bottom left of the photo, you can see some crazy folding in very old, Metamorphic rocks! #geologyisneat#southdakota#nationalparkservice#girlgetoutside#rei1440project#optoutside#blackhills
It's been quite a journey so far, filled with delayed plans, permits, county hearings, etc., but we see Hinterwood coming together more and more each day. It's exciting to fix this place up and dream about next summer spent in the Black Hills. And, you know, we're excited about the new logo as well! 😍👌
Hiking with my dad means rarely taking a trail. It's taught me to get out of my own comfort zone and always blaze my own trail... and to never wear shorts while hiking unless you want your legs scratched like hell. .
