My latest piece...... I love him so much
History always tells me that as a Black Woman, I'm a warrior. See, warriors are ALWAYS up for a fight and fighting is grueling and tiresome. I purposefully tell Black Men that I am NOT a STRONG BLACK WOMAN, when they offer the words towards me.
It isn't a compliment.
Everyone depends on a warrior, no one soothes the warrior, no one cares for the warrior - they only want from them and desire their brute strength.
I grew so tired from being a pillar to everyone that I had a ischemic stroke. Now, I blow things off.
Let me be helped. Let me be sensitive. Let me be exposed. Let me be defended. The more that you tell me that I'm strong, the less the strength and magnitude of power that a Black Man has is valued. When he knows who he is and has his purposes firmly planted, we women are his compliment and the salvation to his divinity. The more you emphasize that the women in his life need little to no protections from him, the less needed he sees himself towards his seeds. Announcing my strength, removes his necessity from the Black family picture. We need him! We want him! We support him! We make him. He is from us. My love is stronger, besides his commitment and loyalty.
There is life and death, in the tongue.
So, to the next NEGRO that says, "You're a Strong Black Woman," I will say, "...but the truest, and blessed BLACK MAN is STRONGER. Let him defend me." This is the real Staying Woke. ~Kitu Umm Saalih Kito
