SUMMER~ Starts at Alkebulan festival organised by @alkebulanproject . Coming saturday 8th of july 2017 in @tolhuistuin in Amsterdam!!! Hand of Fatima will be there to get you all hennafied and celebrate African diversity. Let me know if you are coming!!! .I'm very happy that this intimate festival exists because in the past i have worked on several other festivals that where about Africa....but that was always "black Africa" i don't believe in such a thing...black Africa...black culture... That is a lie and misinterpretation of what Africa is. That doesn't honor the richness in diversity of Africa. Africa consists of thousands of tribes or ethnic groups with different cultures, languages and with different physical appearances. As if all of that can be captured in one word; black?!? That is not right.
Some people say Arab North Africa is not the real Africa....referring to black africa again but these people don't know history. Arab North Africa is a lie like black Africa....you can speak of Arabised North Africa because the inhabitants up untill this very day have 95% of amazigh blood running through their veins Whether they call themselves arab or not, whether they are considered arab or not! The Amazigh tribes are as much indigenous to Africa as every other tribe. Imazighen belong on the list of Fulani, Yoruba, Amhara, Zulu, Luba, Igbo, just the name a few ethnic groups in Africa and therefor i say north africa is real africa!
And if you stlill insist on Africa being black, just acknowledge that black comes in more than 50 shades!!! .
That being said, i continue to the picture. Design on my own hand during Happy Spirit Days. Back drop, Indian embroidery (festival styling by @chicabonita_mireille) Hand of Fatima ring from Egypt, recycled plastic bracelets from Mali, signature hennastyle by yours truly with Moroccan elements.
And it all matches very well together!
Good example for the cruel world nowadays...we all match very well together!!!some people just don't want to see it...afraid of the beauty that will grow from there.
