🌸My Injury🌸 "Morel-Lavallée Lesion is a rare condition presenting with superficial fluid collection between tissue and muscle caused by impact and direct trauma. A closed degloving injury sustained by shear stress and velocity of impact, MLL has rarely been reported in the knee region and as sport injury." 🙄Of COURSE because I'm one in a million
If it were not for my beyond excellent care by my dear friend and training partner Erin, I would have been sent away with a pack of ice. She went to drain the fluid and nothing came out, then blood. I was sent for a CT Scan and diagnosed with this thing I'd never heard of. When the muscle literally comes away from the tissue creating a gap. Barf!!!! I had hit the mats hard on my knee about 3 weeks ago, but only began to experience terrible pain this past week and unreal swelling. It's been a tough week. It was a serious injury that can become infected and cause skin necrosis if not treated early enough. My medical team saved my knee, despite the 2 month healing time. I am now in Physio and have begun weight training and rowing instead of BJJ. I will be able to do mild drilling in a few weeks. I'm staying upbeat because the most amazing athletes have dealt with injury and their mindset never let them fall into a million pieces.
It is time to re evaluate everything. I realize I am an athlete, it's a lifestyle I've come to later in life, and I will take care of myself so I can keep passing guards until I'm well into my 90s 😁
Train hard, train technical. See you on the mats soon guys 🤗
