ACTION. There’s Always More In Legazpi!
Not wanting to delay any effort by worsening the situation for the City of Legazpi after the recent flooding that was brought about by the seemingly non-stop rain, Mayor NOEL EBRIEGA ROSAL sprung into action the moment “good" weather allowed.
Not waiting for findings and recommendations on any course of action from DPWH who is in charge with the Legazpi Flood Control System having designed, built and financed this program for the City under the National Budget, Mayor ROSAL personally went around the reported choke points and supervised the immediate dredging of the waterways as identified by his City Engineer’s Office as the cause of the flooding that did not allow the already-in-place anti-flooding pumping system and station to function at all and showcase of its potential as a test case to the challenge that Legazpi has long been established as being below sea level.
While at it, Mayor ROSAL was most-vocal on the need for all stakeholders working genuinely together. For no matter how ready City government is or no matter how much National Government pump in its resources, without the support and cooperation of its constituents - like, as simply as a proper garbage disposal, nothing can work at all.
And, this recent flooding should be perceived as a clear wake up call to every Legazpeño and will not be the last as he boldly pronounced as a stern warning.
Government and private partnerships in the City that is the place to be every time, all the time …for there’s always more in Legazpi! (TIAM.SM: 0144/150118) #theresalwaysmoreinlegazpi #legazpi #albay #bikol #floodings #dpwh #publicsafety #dredging
