🎼In the big rock candy mountains 🎼 I can confirm that I have adjusted to the low oxygen here! Yesterday I climbed to Vinicunca, also know as Montaña de Colores or the Rainbow Mountain which is 5,200 meters (16,500ft) above sea level. The trek here isn't too tough, but the low oxygen makes your steps slower. Some visitors hire a horse for the climb, but with my inhaler and stubborn nature, I proudly reached the top on my own two feet. Taking a slower pace also permits you to take in the beauty surrounding you and everyone walks with mouths agape at the majesty of these mountains. ••• All the different colors come from the different environmental conditions from when the sediment was originally deposited. Reds are probably from iron oxide rust. Bits of yellows could be from a type of sulphur, browns from sandstones, and blues which undeniably have magical sources. All these layers have been shifted over time from plate tectonics, revealing a story of deep-time and how things have changed. What a beautiful and colorful history that has been!
