I remember when I first started practicing yoga and I thought crow was so hard, and then with a little bit of guidance and falling and trying and failing and trying again, I got it. Then I saw someone do crane and I was like well that's just bananas. Straight arms. The fuck?! And then with guidance and falling and trying and failing and trying again, I got it. Then I saw @dylanwerneryoga do a planche and I was like 😳😳😳. Lots of trying, failing, falling, and no dice. I still can't do it. It's fucking crazy! One day I'll do it. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but I'll get there. The process of learning new skills is a fun challenge. It's easy(ier) to have patience with yourself when learning something for the first time. The shit that really sucks balls? When you've nailed a skill in the past and it eludes you in the present moment. I think it's important to make yourself go through the things that suck balls though. Everyday I step into the ballet studio knowing where I used to be, and I see a reflection in the mirror of where I am now and if I think about it too much, it breaks my heart. Perhaps it's masochistic of me to put myself through that mental challenge day in and day out but I know there's something to be gained. I feel a shift that I can't explain, so I'm rolling with it. That, and I'm stubborn af. πŸ€—But maybe that's what it's all about. Get up, show up, face the challenge, do the work. Practice and all is coming, right? What's your most frustrating challenge right now? How are you working with yourself to face and overcome this challenge? πŸ€” #bigquestions

Carrie's L.A. Odyssey (Day 5 of 7) 🌴 As I basked in the rays of the City of Angels, I had a thought. Life isn't Los Angeles: it won't be sunny every day. And love is as fickle as the weather in New York. But maybe happiness is less about changing your life and more about changing how you look at it. It's less about changing your city, your weight, your boyfriend, or even your selfβ€”and more about changing your perspective. To see the pool float as half full. To stop comparing yourself to where you should be and start celebrating yourself for where you are. After all, the air in L.A. has smog and the air in N.Y. smells like pee, but you can still stop and smell the roses. Maybe life is like a Brazilian Wax: You're in for a lot of pain if you expect everything to be smooth. But if you can greet life's imperfections & hairy challenges with a smile, the forecast looks bright. The storms won't hurt you if there's sunshine in your soul. The nightmares won't scare you if there are dreams in your heart. And you'll never be alone if you become the love you’re looking for.... TO BE CONTINUED #CarrieDragshaw πŸ‘™
See you Monday for the final "episodes" of our L.A. Journey. You've made this week so so fun for me. Thank you x a trillion!!

Hey! Happy Holidays! I love the time between Christmas and the new year. It's a time we usually spend reflecting on goals, hopes, regrets, and being creative in whatever form feels right, whether it's cooking or art making. Or KNITTING! 😻 This year I'm feeling particularly pensive about what I'm doing with my life and how it impacts other people. Am I doing enough? No. So I have been setting some new volunteering goals for next year, and have been embracing the introspection. Hope for the new year and love to you! #bigquestions #knittingmakeseverythingbetter hat pattern is improvised, yarn is by @lushknit and @madelinetosh

some deep wondering this afternoon (*note, this does not endorse laughing at falls. And only appropriate if applied to instances where people are certainly okay, and certainly clumsy and or making poor life choices. I am in the camp it is involuntary assholery)

Come check out night 1 of our #BIGQUESTIONS series tonight at 7!

My baby is eleven today. 😭 (The admittance of which means I probably have to stop lying about my age. Ha. Kidding. I don't lie. I just don't tell.) He is currently hiding from me as we were looking at baby pictures and I burst into tears like any good crazy mother would do. He also made me promise not to post any pictures, so I'm now breaking said promise as any good crazy mother would do. Lucky enough to be a part of this lil man's journey - from the daily convos about the illuminati and opening your third eye to his frequent lectures on random googled information about *enter any topic here*. This little mind - I didn't deserve him. πŸ’™
